Is Asphalt 9 Cross-platform? That's what some players will be wondering before picking up this arcade racer.

Asphalt 9: Legends is a lot of fun and the game is constantly being expanded and improved upon with new tracks and cars to race using.

The game is out on a few consoles, but is it cross-platform? If you don't know what that means, we're here to explain for you below.

Is Asphalt 9 Cross-platform?

Asphalt 9: Legends has been out since 2018 and was originally a mobile exclusive. It launched on both iOS and Android devices, but has since expanded its potential playerbase.

The following year, Asphalt 9 was launched on the Nintendo Switch, marking its debut on a home console system. It was later launched on Xbox Series X | S in 2021, with a PC port via the Steam store coming in 2022.

So, in a sense, Asphalt 9 is cross-platform, as it's available on multiple different systems due to the different versions that are on offer.

There is another type of being cross-platform, though, that gamers regularly talk about.

Asphalt 9 Crossplay

Crossplay is something that's becoming more and more popular each year. Years ago, crossplay was once the stuff of gaming fantasy, but it's now very much a reality.

Crossplay allows players on different consoles to be able to play in the same online multiplayer lobbies as each other. This is possible due to having the online for a game hosted via the same server.

So, for example, you have F1 23 on PS5 and your friends play on Xbox. Despite this, you can race against each other online.

Is it possible for Asphalt 9 players on mobile to play against those on PC or Switch, though?

Well, unfortunately not, as crossplay isn't enabled for Asphalt 9. Although, this could be something that gets added in for Asphalt 10 when that releases.

Technically, there is crossplay between the different mobile versions of the game, as each different smartphone is its one unique console. However, it doesn't go further than that, as Android users can't be in the same lobbies as those on Xbox.
