Fans have been worried about the fate of Gran Turismo 7 for a while now, and not without cause.

Polyphony's amazing series is notorious for delays, and games have been getting pushed back left, right, and centre for the past 12 months due to obvious reasons.

Well, GT7 became the latest game to suffer a delay.

GT7 release date delayed

In a statement provided to GQ, a Sony spokesperson wrote:

“GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.”

SLOW IT DOWN: Polyphony aren't rushing GT7 to market

This puts an end to speculation on the release date that was given by different PS5 adverts, including a quote on one as recently as late January that said "first half of 2021".

Better safe than sorry

As many gamers have discovered, an unfinished release for a game is no good.

Cyperpunk 2077 has been the most recent example of a lengthy pre-release hype only to fall flat thanks to buggy play and unpolished performance.

While racing fans will be disappointed by the news, the entire community would rather wait for a complete and perfect Gran Turismo 7 than suffer from poor performance and endless bugs.
