Assetto Corsa Competizione on next-gen

Assetto Corsa Competizione, or ACC as it is better known, is a GT3 & GT4 simulator that offers a single player career mode with a good level of depth as well as online leaderboards for seasonal events like a 30 minute hot stint around a track.

It's also got a thriving online community and one of the best player rating systems in racing. However, several important features have been PC exclusive since release. The next-gen update for console is set to bring PlayStation and Xbox players in-line with the PC racers.

PUSHING HARD: ACC is all about consistency, as well as outright pace

The update will include racing features, community upgrades, and graphical improvements. Let's take a look at what Kunos has in store for players.

60 fps awaits

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of ACC were limited to just 30 fps. On the new and more powerful consoles the game will reach a cap of 60 fps.

This cap has been put in place to ensure a smooth experience for players. ACC uses the Unreal Engine which is fairly taxing. The game is notoriously hungry on PC and can test even the best rigs that want to push fps up into the hundreds, so a console cap makes sense.

This will give much more precision for console players, providing they have a monitor that can handle the improved fps too!

Day/night cycle

Endurance racing is a big part of GT3/4 races, and Assetto Corsa Competizione reflects that with a full day/night transition.

THE SETTING SUN: Get ready for a few blinding moments as the sun sets

You'll need to flip your headlights on, and be ready with the windscreen wipers too as dynamic weather will be playing a big part in the next-gen update too.

That means the chance of more rain at circuits like Spa, Silverstone, and Suzuka.

Private lobbies

While public lobbies have been available on console, the ability to set up a private one hasn't been part of the game for PS4/Xbox One players.

With the update private lobby creation will be free for players.

Release date

The PS5/Xbox Series X|S update will be released digitally on 22 February. Those who already own ACC will be able to update for free.

Physical releases for the Day One Edition on ACC on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is still listed as 24 February, but that may be bought forward to match the digital release.
