Is Assetto Corsa Competizione open-world?

Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of our favourite racing simulators. ACC is a lot of fun to play, being both an impressive sim and an entertaining experience.

Open-world racing games are becoming more popular, with Forza Horizon being the shining example. Does ACC have this feature? Or is there plans for Kunos to introduce this later on? We've got everything you need to know right here!

Open-world status

ACC isn't an open-world game, instead focussing on traditional circuits rather than expansive environments. We'd love to see an open-world AC game in the future, just like we believe an open-world Gran Turismo would be amazing to play!

A WHOLE NEW WORLD: A Horizon-style AC would be incredible to experience

To see how the GT cars handle themselves on everyday roads is also an interesting experiment to try out.

Could we see AC Horizon?

Obviously, it wouldn't be called that, but it is an interesting concept to ponder about.

AC would face strong competition on Xbox from Forza Horizon, but no such opposition on PlayStation. To our knowledge, there is no open-world racing simulator currently out for PS4. AC Horizon could be a huge success on the PS5 as well, and allow Kunos to catapult into the big time financially.

Trailer
