MotoGP 22 PS4: Milestone's upcoming racer confirmed for PlayStation 4

MotoGP 22 is out now! Milestone's annual MotoGP game has hugely impressed us on both next and old-gen systems.

We didn't know whether MotoGP 22 was going to be released on PlayStation 4, but the trailer has confirmed that it will be on PS4. So, what does this mean for '22? Well, we've got everything you need to know right here!

Release date

The official release date for MotoGP 22 was 21st April, as confirmed by the announcement trailer we've linked below:

There are a lot of new features in the game. This includes the new 2009 classic season mode, which we're abolsutely loving.

Why keep going with the last console generation?

The PlayStation 4 was released in late-2013 and the first MotoGP game on the system was MotoGP 14. Eight years on, and MotoGP 22 was released on this old-gen system, but why?

This is because the playerbase of the PS4 is so large compared to the PS5. The PS5 has done exceptionally well commercially, there's no getting around that. The console's 22 million sales is still tiny compared to the PS4's 116 million.

Obviously, don't expect the same performance as those on next-gen hardware. However, it is good news for those still on last-gen, as they too can jump on the game.

All of the features included

While the graphics, frame rate and sound won't be as good on PS4 as it will be for the PS5, that's pretty much where the disadvantages end. When it comes to the tracks, riders, and bikes, everything that's included on PS5, will also be available on the PS4.

This is also despite cool features such as haptic feedback from the DualSense controller and 3D sound from the Pusle 3D headset.

This will be despite the PS4 not being as powerful of a system as its next-gen equivalent. However, the PS4 version will be down-scaled graphically, but it won't look bad by any means. If you don't have a 4K TV, you might not even notice a huge difference between the next and old-gen versions of MotoGP 22.
