Hot Wheels Unleashed Monster Truck Expansion announced for April

Hot Wheels Unleashed was a surprise hit last year. Since September, over one million copies have been sold, making Hot Wheels Unleashed Milestone’s fastest-selling game yet. Who says arcade racers are dead? With its detailed diecast car replicas and crazy track designs, Hot Wheels Unleashed lets you live out your childhood fantasies.

While it's a fun ride, the base game is light on content. However, Milestone continues to support the acclaimed toy racer with expansions, car packs and timed events.

Last week saw the start of the SpongeBob Racing Season bringing new challenges, six SpongeBob-themed cars, and new customisation options. Now, Milestone has announced a new Monster Trucks Expansion for Hot Wheels Unleashed.

Hot Wheels Unleashed Monster Trucks Expansion announced

Available on 21 April, the Monster Trucks Expansion features five new vehicles. Unfortunately, they haven't been shown in screenshots or videos yet. Presumably, the new vehicles will be based on toys from the large 1:64-scale Hot Wheels Monster Truck diecast toy range.

The expansion also includes a themed Track Builder Module and themed customisation items for the Basement andPlayer Profile.

New shooting studio environment

You’ll be able to race the monster trucks in a new shooting studio environment. A brief announcement video showcases four dioramas including a jungle, quarry, desert, and ice mountain. These new locations will add some much-needed variety as Hot Wheels Unleashed only has six environments without DLC.

The Monster Trucks Expansion is included in the Hot Wheels Pass Vol.2 available on 17 February. Alternatively, you can buy the expansion separately from 21 April, but there are no price details yet.

As well as the Monster Trucks Expansion, Hot Wheels Pass Vol. 2 also includes nine vehicles, three themed customisation packs and three Track Builder Modules.
