Assetto Corsa Competizione: Porsche 911 GT3 R Imola setup

The 2020 World Challenge Pack DLC has finally arrived on the console version of Assetto Corsa Competizione.

This means the amazing Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, aka Imola, is now in the game.

To celebrate we've been pounding around the circuit creating a setup that somewhat tames the vicious but very fast Porsche 911 GT3 R.

ACC setups

There are a few handy rules to follow when it comes to setups in ACC. The first is tyre pressures.

Ideal PSI for dry tyres sits around 27.5. Your PSI will fluctuate with tyre temps, but when they are that wonderful green colour you want them in a 27.3-27.7 PSI window, erring a little on the higher side than lower.

FEARSOME AND FUN: Imola is a truly amazing circuit

Next is baselines. The default setup is nice, if slow, but the preset ā€œaggressiveā€ setup is a good starting point to begin tinkering from.

The 911 is one of the trickiest cars to handle in ACC. It's very rear-happy, which makes Imola a tough circuit to go fast on!

Tyres

Like we said, you want your tyres to be in that sweet 27.5-ish PSI range when racing. So we have set the PSI approriately.

The camber and toe settings should also give you decent stability without putting excessive strain on one side of the tyre.

Electronics

Electronics dictates how much traction control and ABS you will have.

This is a highly-personalised part of the setup and really depends on how confident you are with your throttle and brake inputs.

Imola isn't too bad and both TC and ABS can be set relatively low.

Fuel & strategy

Fuel and strategy depends on your race length and if there is a mandatory pitstop or not.

If you do have to stop make sure your next set of tyres have the correct PSI.

Make sure you have enough fuel to finish the race, it's a mistake that is easier to make than you think!

Finally, your brakes should be on 2 for races from 10 minutes to 2 hours, and 3 if any longer.

Mechanical grip

This is perhaps the most crucial part of the setup. Imola is full of bumps, elevation changes, and chunky kerbs that can throw you into the wall in an instant.

The slightly stiffer front antiroll bar will help get the car rotated but the rear should also stay planted when you get on the gas too.

Dampers

Dampers are very tricky to feel in all but the highest level of sim rig.

We haven't played with them much, but they will aid the stability unless you take too many liberties with the kerbs.

Aero

You may not think it, but you need some high levels of aero at Imola.

With a couple of fast sweeps where the rear can easily get away from you and some slow corners where pointiness is key, it means high levels of splitter, rear wing, and ride height are needed.
