Assetto Corsa Competizione is the undisputed king of GT3 & GT4 racing. As the official video game of the GT World Challenge, it has all the tracks, liveries, and cars from the series, and is one of the most impressive racers around.
However, as a PC-first game console players can be left behind a little bit. Well, the team behind ACC has given fans the news they were waiting for, an official next-gen release!
Assetto Corsa Competizione next-gen release date
The big day to circle in your calendars is 24 February 2022. That's when ACC will finally drop a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version.
The good news is that existing owners will be upgraded for free, and with the next-gen version comes a whole host of improvements.
Firstly the graphics, with next-gen ACC boasting 60 fps at 4K for those with the monitor to handle it. With such a demanding engine, Kunos is capping the game at 60fps, rather than trying to push up to the 120 fps other games are achieving on the new hardware. This is to ensure the smoothest and most consistent performance for players.
New to the next-gen version will be free private multiplayer lobbies, allowing racers to link up with their friends much more easily. While there won't be crossplay for the title, this does at least make racing friends a more straightforward task.
There will also be, at long last, the introduction of the BMW M4 GT3, which will be free for all players.
Day One Edition
For those that haven't dipped their toe into the world of ACC, there will be a physical release with a Day One Edition, which provides not just the next-gen version one of the previous DLCs too.
Players will get the 2020 GT World Challenge pack with the Day One Edition, which gets you access to the Imola circuit, the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020, and Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo 2020 cars.
It's a great deal for players!
Future content
That's not all, Kunos has stated that there will be future DLC for the game, including new tracks and a new class of car. While not giving anything away, they did confirm that one of the incoming tracks would be from America!
It's great to know that such an awesome game will be getting continued support. With Assetto Corsa 2 in the works, the future looks great for Kunos and their fans. Will there be an ACC 2? Maybe, but for now, we will have to wait for the next DLC to get fresh GT content!
