  • Primary Subject: Assetto Corsa EVO - Eifel Free Roam Mode
  • Key Update: Details on open-world environments.
  • Status: Confirmed 2026 release window.
  • Last Verified: January 26, 2026.
  • Quick Answer: The Eifel Free Roam is a massive 1600 sq km open-world expansion centered around the Nürburgring. It features laser-scanned 1:1 authenticity, bustling towns, traffic, and much more.

You will no longer be bound to the Armco walls in Assetto Corsa EVO, as the circuit racer will open the gates to the surrounding area of Nürburgring.

Filled with long roads and aggressive turns, you can let the howl of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS’s flat-six roll through the quaint suburbs and chirping wilderness of the Eifel Mountains.

Kunos Simulazioni has released teasers for the free-roam mode, giving us brief glimpses of what to expect. Here's everything you need to know.

While there is no definitive release date for the free roam mode of Assetto Corsa EVO, the mode is confirmed to arrive before the 1.0 launch, sometime in 2026.

Free roam was originally set for Summer 2025. But with the poor early access release, the title was behind schedule for all planned updates, heavily struggling with delays.

The latest trailer description reads, "Eifel Free Roam is arriving in Assetto Corsa EVO this year as part of the Early Access Program." During the SimRacing Expo 2025, Kunos Simulazioni said the mode will arrive in early 2026

So, while we do not know the exact release, expect a 2026 launch. It is also worth noting that the mode was originally planned to be "released in stages, along with new features and content." That means the free roam might not be feature-complete at launch. Only after several updates will we be able to explore the mode to its full potential.

The open world of Assetto Corsa EVO is said to cover 1600 square kilometers of the laser-scanned Eifel region surrounding the legendary Nürburgring. Finer details on the mode are yet to be made official.

It is a blow-by-blow recreation of the region. In the announcement, Kunos said: "Players will have the unique opportunity to interact with local businesses, rent cars, and upgrade vehicles with aftermarket parts. Local businesses can now become part of this innovation. If you run a car rental company, an auto parts store, or any other business, you could see your brand featured in the game."

The January 2026 teaser shows us a good look at what we can expect from the mode.

The video doesn't exactly showcase how the mode is going to be in terms of content, but it does offer details on how the open world will look.

In the opening seconds, you can see the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) exit the circuit. A zoomed-out frame of the region shows us the breadth and impressive scale. You can catch glimpses of many landmarks, including forests, hills, wind turbines, a castle on a hill, and urban environments, highlighting the diversity.

Everything looks 1:1 authentic here. A day-night cycle is shown in the trailer. You can also spot majestic cows, too. The open world also appears surprisingly dense with decent traffic and cities bustling with NPCs at night.

You can see people strolling, sitting, and in general minding their business. It would be a shame if a twin-turbocharged V8 missile screamed into the scene and decided to ruin the rather tranquil atmosphere.

All this will make Assetto Corsa EVO the first pure sim racer in the genre to feature a full open world, at least on this scale. A good, technically sound release with an open world that isn't a total bore is all we ask.

We will be sure to update you as we learn more about the free roam mode of Assetto Corsa EVO
