Can I play Rocket League on my phone?

In November 2021, Rocket League Sideswipe launched as a mobile spin-off on iOS and Android. This means that yes, you can play Rocket League on your phone and enjoy its fast-paced car football gameplay on the go. However, there are a few differences between Sideswipe and the original Rocket League game.

Rocket League Sideswipe has simplified touch controls for mobiles

To simplify the experience for mobile players, Sideswipe uses a 2D perspective, though the cars and environment are rendered in 3D. Sideswipe also uses touch controls to make it accessible to casual players.

Using a 360-degree touch screen joystick on the left side of the screen, players can move the car up, down, left, and right to try and knock the ball into the back of the net. Tapping touch buttons on the right side activates a boost and lets you jump. Alternatively, Sideswipe is compatible with all mobile controllers if you prefer physical controls.

Sideswipe has three online game modes: Duel 1v1, Doubles 2v2, and Hoops 2v2. Goals are replaced with basketball hoops in the latter mode.

Every match only lasts two minutes, making Sideswipe perfect for playing on the go in short bursts on the bus. Like the original game, Sideswipe is designed to be played online, but there are also offline Training and Exhibition modes.

How much does Rocket League Sideswipe cost?

Rocket League Sideswipe is free-to-play on mobile devices. While you can unlock new customisation items in loot boxes and earn rewards in a season pass, there are no in-app purchases.
