CarX Drift Racing Online is truly a breath of fresh air for racing gamers. There aren't many true drifting games out there on the market, but this is undoubtedly one and a great one at that. CarX has evolved from a mobile game to one that's playable on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Something that has been a part of the CarX community for some time now is modding. So, how do you access them? Which ones are best and are they available on console too? We've got everything you need to know right here!
Finding mods
Since CarX became available on Steam in 2017, there has been a thriving modding community. It should be noted that there are several different versions of CarX available on Steam, but the modding is where you see true customisation.
To find mods for CarX, you need to go onto Steam's website and head over to the Workshop. From there, search for CarX and then you can browse the mods available. Most of the popular mods in Steam are relating to expanding the car list of the game.
If you see a mod you like the look of, you'll have to remember to "subscribe" to a mod to install it into your CarX save.
Some of the best mods we've seen include the Toyota Supra Mk4, Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and the 1969 Ford Mustang. There are over 300 to choose from though, so have a look and see if there's a car you want to try out in CarX.
Are mods available on console?
Sadly, for now, mods aren't available on the PlayStation nor Xbox versions of CarX. It's rare that modding is included in console games and CarX isn't an exception to this rule. In fact, the only example we can think of when it comes to modding in a console game in Fallout 4.
We may see mods available for this title in the future after CarX expands to PS5, but that's a long way off. For now, if you want to mod CarX, you'll have to do so via the Steam and PC versions.
