You’d be forgiven for forgetting about Dakar Desert Rally. A sequel to Dakar 18, Dakar Desert Rally was initially announced last December with a planned 2022 release.
Since then, there have been no updates on Saber Porto’s officially-licensed Dakar Rally game. We were starting to wonder if Dakar Desert Rally is still on track for a 2022 release. Well wonder no more, because Dakar Desert Rally now has a name.
It’s great news too - despite the lack of updates since last December, Dakar Desert Rally is coming to consoles and PC in less than two months.
Dakar Desert Rally release date revealed in pre-order trailer
An official pre-order trailer shows what appears to be CG footage of the hybrid Audi RS Q e-tron off-roader driving across dunes and gravel roads in Saudi Arabia at the Dakar Rally. At the end of the trailer, we finally learn the release date.
Dakar Desert Rally is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on 4 October. The Audi RS Q e-tron will be available as a special pre-order bonus.
A Deluxe Edition will also be available, which includes the DAF Truck TurboTwin and Peugeot 405 Turbo 16, as well as a Season Pass with five DLC packs adding new cars, a new map, and two rally events.
Dakar Desert Rally to be shown at Gamescom
Sadly, no new details are revealed, but we should find out more soon. Publisher Saber Interactive has confirmed Dakar Desert Rally will be shown to the media next week at Gamescom.
Dakar Desert Rally will feature a wide variety motorcycles, cars, trucks, quads and SSVs, with over 150 licensed vehicles and over 30 stages from the official 2020 and 2021 Dakar Rally.
