Need for Speed Unbound has been out for a few weeks now. But with no season pass available and no communication from EA or Criterion, players are wondering if any Need for Speed Unbound updates will add new content after launch.
Thankfully, EA has revealed what we can expect in future Need for Speed Unbound updates.
EA shares Need for Speed Unbound update plans
EA has shared the Need for Speed Unbound update plans on Twitter, confirming a “series of post-launch updates and experience packs” are in the pipeline as well as “free access to new modes, social features, and progression for Lakeshore Online.”
The first update will focus on “expanding social play features.” After that, future NFS Unbound updates will bring “new modes and features, cars, customisation content and more.”
As for when the updates will arrive, EA says to expect “more updates from us near the end of January.”
It makes sense for Criterion to prioritise expanding the multiplayer. Several key modes and features are missing right now including cop chases, night-time free-roaming, Takeover events, and Sidebets.
New cars are also welcome as most of NFS Unbound’s car list is recycled from Need for Speed Heat.
With only two DLC cars and no major major updates, NFS Heat’s post-launch support was poor, to say the least, so it’s reassuring to know NFS Unbound won't suffer the same fate, with a raft of updates keeping players engaged and improve the experience.
