There are few games which we remember because of their blend of enjoyment and pure frustration.
We did a piece recently on Trackmania, which is exactly one of those types of games.
However, it seems there is a Remaster on the way which promises exactly the same. So, let's take a look at Elasto Mania now!
Elasto Mania
The game is a 2D platformer, where players have to complete levels whilst riding a motorcross style bike.
The game, on the surface, is a fun enough platformer. However, as with all games like this, the speedrunning community have a blast.
Subsequently, this is where many of the frustrations can come from. When trying to perfect your time, there's nothing worse than just missing a ledge or failing a jump.
Steam release
Sim Elasto Mania launched for Steam last year, 20 years after its initial release.
The game proved to be a success, and as such, the game has now been confirmed as having a Switch version.
This Switch version of the game will come this year. Excitingly, the game will also drop for PS4, PS5 and Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Release Date
So, let's start thinking about when the Remaster may drop for console.
The original game launched February 1, 2000. However, it's difficult to use a game release date from 20 years ago as a reference.
The Remaster of the game dropped on 25 May in 2020. This is a much closer reference to use, and as the release of next-gen consoles was so recent, it seems plausible.
We certainly wouldn't expect the game super soon, as the team will have to work on a port for these new consoles and the older ones also. Also, the game will have all-new HD assets, so the game will look better than ever!
