iRacing has a huge variety of race types from stock cars to single-seaters but has yet to embrace electrification. This will change next week when the Porsche Mission R becomes the first electric car to debut in iRacing.
Electric Porsche Mission R coming to iRacing
Playable in public, hosted, league, time trial, and test drive modes, the electric Porsche Mission R will be available next week as part of the upcoming 2022 Season 4 Build.
Porsche’s all-electric GT racing car concept was unveiled in real life earlier this year, showcasing the manufacturer’s vision of an electric car for customer motorsport. Not only is it iRacing’s first electric car, but it’s also the first time the Porsche Mission R will appear in any racing game.
Designed to match the performance of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the Mission R generates over 800 kilowatts of power (over 1,000 hp) from two electric motors.
This enables the electric racer to rocket from 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds, while the battery can be reached up to 75 percent in 15 minutes between races.
Uniquely, the real-life Mission R is also designed for sim racing, with the interior doubling as an elaborate sim racing cockpit.
Mission R Challenge series debuting in 2022 Season 4
Before it becomes available to buy, the Porsche Mission R will feature in next week’s Shiny New Shakedown series in Season 3 Week 13. The Mission R Challenge series will then debut as a part of 2022 Season 4.
