The F1 Esports silly season is in full swing and it is the most dramatic we've seen in years.
After two-time Champion Brendon Leigh decided to swap the Silver Arrows for the Prancing Horse and join Ferrari, we wondered what Mercedes would do.
Now we know. Sign the fastest man in F1 Esports!
Opmeer joins Mercedes
Jarno Opmeer was an unstoppable force in 2020. He took the lead in the title race after the first Grand Prix and never relinquished it, despite heavy pressure from the Red Bull duo of Frede Rasmussen and Marcel Kiefer.
After leading the Alfa Romeo team to its first title of any sort in F1 Esports and talking to Gfinity about the strong relationship he and Dani Bereznay were forming, it is a surprise to see Opmeer join his third team in three years.
And he isn't the only new face joining Mercedes.
Dani Moreno swaps McLaren for Mercedes
Joining him in the Brackley-based team will be Dani Moreno.
The young Spaniard put together some superb drives in the second half of the season with McLaren and ended up claiming Rookie of the Year in 2020.
The two new arrivals will join Bono Huis as Mercedes look to get back to the top of the sport.
Virtual GP
The Formula 1 Virtual GP returns this Sunday, 31 January at 6pm GMT.
The pros will be in action in a five-lap qualifying race to determine the grid for the main event.
