F1 Manager 2022 was announced back in April, but weāve seen very little of Frontierās officially licensed management game since then.
With hype building towards its summer release, Frontier Developments has launched a new behind the scenes video series focusing on the gameās development. The first video, called Be The Boss introduces us to the role of F1 Team Principal.
Be the Boss
As Game Director Andy Fletcher explains, management games are all about making key decisions that have meaningful impacts, and this is true in F1 Manager.
Whereas Codemastersā F1 games let you play as the driver, F1 Manager places you in the role of Team Principal. As Team Principal, you're responsible for making decisions that affect the outcome of the race.
As the video explains, youāll be overseeing every facet of the team, from recruiting and retaining drivers and staff, to planning race weekend strategies.
There's a focus on both short and long-term strategies, too. Team bosses will also have to manage budgets as well as design and manufacture new components for the current car while planning next yearās design.
In the video, we also get a closer look at F1 Manager 2022ās detailed driver face scans, including a first look at Mercedes driver George Russellās likeness as well as the menu screens for driver scouting, car development, upgrading facilities, and Board objectives.
This is the first of many behind the scenes videos. In the coming months, future videos will provide detailed looks at F1 Manager 2022ās art and audio work including the driver face scans, and motion-captured pit crews.Ā
Release date
Sadly, what the video didnāt confirm is a release date.
F1 Manager 2022 is still slated for a summer release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, and PC.
With the summer just around the corner, we hopefully wonāt have to wait much longer to find out the release date.
