A fast car needs a fast driver behind the wheel, these are the F1 Manager 2022 best young drivers!
If you are planning to take Haas from the back row to the top step, or looking to secure another Red Bull dynasty, you are going to need to have your eye on the next generation of talented drivers.
F1 Manager 2022 is full of amazing young drivers, but you can't just go on overall to find out who the best options are!
Best young drivers
There are a few things you need to be aware of before you can hire the next Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen.
There are no Super Licences in F1 Manager 2022. Instead, they have a caveat that drivers must be over 18 and have competed in at least two seasons of F2 or F3.
That means that drivers like Isack Hadjar and Oliver Bearman are too young when the game starts, while Ayumu Iwasa and Cem Bolukbasi don't have the required experience. You'll have to wait if you want to hire any of them.
For our list, we are setting the cutoff age at 21, and they can't be a current F1 driver. That means we won't be including the likes of Lando Norris (22), Mick Schumacher (22), or Yuki Tsunoda (21).
With that settled. Here are the best young drivers in F1 Manager 2022!
Oscar Piastri
Growth Potential: High
Aggression: Average
The reigning Formula 2 champion is the hottest property in Formula 1, so naturally he is the best young driver in F1 Manager 2022.
His 75 overall is the highest among young drivers, but his average attribute score of 71 is just third. However, what sets Piastri apart is his Braking (85) and Cornering (83) which make him exceptionally fast in clear air.
His Smoothness (48) and Adaptability (59) need some work but thanks to his high growth potential you can build those up pretty quickly.
Attribute | Rating |
---|---|
Cornering | 83 |
Braking | 85 |
Reactions | 74 |
Accuracy | 78 |
Control | 80 |
Smoothness | 48 |
Adaptability | 59 |
Overtaking | 63 |
Defending | 69 |
Frederik Vesti
Growth Potential: High
Aggression: High
Vesti might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think about future stars, but in F1 Manager 2022 he is a quality young driver.
The 20-year-old Dane is currently in his first season in F2 after consecutive fourth-place finishes in F3. He has settled in well in the higher category, already winning a race and claiming three podiums in total at the time of writing.
Vesti's best attributes are his Smoothness (84) and Control (78) which means he is very kind to his tyres and will rarely make a mistake.
On the downsides are his Braking (57) and Adaptability (59) which will hamper him in wheel-to-wheel racing and mixy conditions.
However, his attributes average out marginally higher than Piastri's, so he's a very strong option.
Attribute | Rating |
---|---|
Cornering | 71 |
Braking | 57 |

Jack Doohan
Growth Potential: High
Aggression: High
The son of motorbike legend Mick Doohan, Jack is carving a strong junior career for himself.
He was second in F3 Asian in both 2019 and 2020, and then second in Formula 3 in 2021.
Since promotion to Formula 2 in 2022 he's picked up a pair of wins and very much looked like a potential future champion in the category.
In F1 Manager 2022 his strongest attributes are Accuracy (85) and Reactions (82). Those two combined make Doohan fast and consistent.
The downsides come with his Smoothness (41) and Adaptability (61). That means he will burn through tyres pretty quickly and struggle in mixy conditions, though that high Accuracy will limit any big problems.
Attribute | Rating |

Cornering | 75 |
Braking | 74 |
Reactions | 82 |
Accuracy | 85 |

Theo Pourchaire
Growth Potential: High
Aggression: Low
The young Frenchman battled Piastri hard for the 2020 Formula 3 title, and then impressed in F2 in 2021 and is pushing for the title this season.
As a result, he's got a good set of attributes. Oh and he's only 18!
Smoothness (83) and Braking (81) are Pourchaire's best attributes. That means he can extend stints and make his tyres last, and is able to brake late into corners, gaining lap time and making overtakes a bit easier.
As for weaknesses, Pourchaire's Reactions (54) and Adaptability (61) are his worst stats. This is likely because of his age but if you bring him in and start earning those Development Points you can quickly improve those.

Cornering | 76 |
Braking | 81 |

Richard Verschoor
Growth Potential: Average
Aggression Low
We were surprised too, but Richard Verschoor really is a strong option in F1 Manager 2022.
He has the best average starting attributes of any young driver in the game at 71.8, and it's just that average growth potential that stops him being much higher on this list!
Verschoor's best attributes are his Adaptability (83), Accuracy (75), and Defending (75). His racecraft is remarkable for a young driver in this game.
His worst attributes are Reactions (57) and Cornering (67), which will limit his immediate pace. However, his overall strengths make him a worthwhile addition.
