One of F1 Manager 2024's most requested new features is the new Create a Team mode.
Frontier has listened to the fans by allowing custom teams to join the grid in F1 Manager 2024. The new Create a Team mode puts you in the hot seat of your very own team.
From hiring drivers and staff to designing your own livery and signing sponsors, there’s a lot to do when starting your own team. With all that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about the Create a Team mode.
Latest news - Frontier and Twitch team up to create custom livery
On the eve of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Frontier has announced a new custom livery to use in Create a Team. Partnering with streaming service Twitch, this livery brings the vibrant Twitch purple to the world of Formula 1.
This one-of-a-kind livery will be available to all players on all platforms when the game launches on July 23. This includes those racing on the move on Nintendo Switch.
Create a Team hands-on preview
Frontier invited us to a hands-on preview of F1 Manager 2024, showcasing the all-new Create a Team mode. This is a real game-changer for fans, finally allowing them to live out their own F1 stories.
After setting up the team from scratch, we were able to design a bespoke car livery and race suit and customize the helmets the drivers would wear during races. This is before selecting sponsors and adding them to the cars and suits as well.
Once the team was fully established, we managed them during the Bahrain Grand Prix before loading into a Race Replay event to show off F1 Manager 2024's new mechanical failures feature.
Overall, Create a Team is the shot in the arm the franchise has been calling for since its inception. This will win back the fans and hopefully save the F1 Manager series.
F1 Manager 2024 Create a Team mode
In March 2024's Unlocked livestream, Frontier gave fans a first look at F1 Manager 2024's Create a Team mode. Work-in-progress footage showed the livery editor as a car was customized with different colors and liveries.
We also got a brief look at fictional sponsor logos being placed and race suit customization.
Custom teams
Create a Team puts you in the driving seat of your very own F1 team, no longer constrained by the existing real-world teams on the grid.
Players can build their team from the ground up, bringing in real or fictional drivers and staff from the rest of the grid. You can even design your own livery to make the car your own, along with custom race suit and helmet designs.

Custom racing
Ever since the F1 Manager series first launched in 2022, fans have all been asking for the same thing. As fun as it is to hop into our favorite F1 team to manage their way to success, most wanted the opportunity to lead their own team to glory.
F1 Manager 2023 continued to exclude an option to make custom teams, frustrating fans who just wanted to create their own F1 legacy. That’s all changed with the reveal of F1 Manager 2024, however.
So far, most promotional material has focused on the new Create a Team mode. This isn’t surprising, as Frontier is keen to promote arguably the best feature to come to the series since launch.
Create a Team comes with many new features to F1 Manager 2024, so let’s take a look at how it will all work.
Fuel your ambition
Before you can assemble a winning F1 team, you need to create your backstory and source the finances. Players can select from several team origins, with each affecting your starting resources and appeal to drivers and staff.
Players can also customize their team's facilities before starting out. This means plowing all your points into the wind tunnel or spreading things out a little more evenly for better results.
Once you've created your team, Create a Team allows you to negotiate sponsorship opportunities to finance your charge up the grid. Each sponsor has demands that need to be fulfilled to keep their engagement high. Lowering the engagement too much risks losing their backing altogether.
Once the funds have been secured, it's up to you how you want to spend them. Whether you want to pump it all into your HQ to build the best team or start cherry-picking the best talent available for a quick burst to victory, there’s more than one way to chase after the biggest prize in motorsport!
You may also need to keep a little extra money locked away to quickly renegotiate a contract with a driver or staff member. In F1 Manager 2024, other teams can poach from you, so always have a shortlist of replacements on hand just in case you need them.
Paint and carbon
F1 Manager 2024 also enables you to design your own F1 car. This includes a custom livery, where you can either get as creative as you want or follow the rest of the grid and leave it all exposed carbon.
Bespoke liveries are also available for players. This means it's possible to create a unique livery for every race on the calendar should players wish to do so.
The ability to sign engine supplier deals returns from the first two entries, however this is not tied into the driver affiliate program like some hoped it would.
Managing success
As with every F1 team, the goal is to win the championship as many times as possible. Create a Team presents a wide range of possibilities for how to achieve this, with the decision ultimately resting with you.
Whether it's hiring young talent and building slowly to glory, or going all out by hiring world champions, how your drivers line up is entirely up to you.
Driver academies are confirmed as being in the game this year. Players can sign up to ten affiliate drivers, before giving them experience in F2 or F3 teams. Eventually, these drivers can make their way into F1, either through your team or by crossing the grid.
It's also a good idea to keep your drivers and staff members happy, as new in F1 Manager 2024 is AI poaching. Now the rest of the grid can steal your brightest prospect, so be on the lookout for any potential suitors.
Release date
F1 Manager 2024's release date is confirmed for July 23 2024. It will be available worldwide from this date and pre-orders are now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, and Windows PC.
Frontier announced during June's Frontier Unlocked stream that F1 Manager 2024 will also be released on Nintendo Switch, allowing players to live out their F1 dreams while on the move.
