As a result of a technical partnership with the M-Sport World Rally Team, Fanatec has unveiled the Podium Button Module Rally, a new wheel module designed to enhance rally games like WRC 10.
Designed for the 2022 Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 WRC car
Built in collaboration with the M-Sport World Rally Team. Fanatec’s new wheel module is used in the 2022 Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 car competing in the 2022 WRC season. Earlier this year, it helped nine-time world champion Sébastien Loeb drive the hybrid rally car to victory at the 2022 Monte Carlo Rally.
Lighter than previous units, M-Sport has extensively tested the Podium Button in preparation for the 2022 WRC season.
This isn’t the first time Fanatec has designed wheels for real race cars. The German racing peripheral company also sells wheels for the BMW M4 GT3 and Bentley GT3 Pikes Peak race cars.
Integrated display
The integrated display confirms if the car has accepted the Engine, Regen, or Boost switch position. Button inserts allow the team to change the layout easily. In addition, the backlight brightness can be adjusted to suit different stage conditions.
The Podium Button Module Rally wheel can be combined with the Sparco wheel rim. This is the same setup the M-Sport World Rally Team uses in 2022 Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 WRC cars.
Compact and lightweight, the wheel rim module features nine buttons with programmable RGB backlighting, two D-pads, three 12-way multi-position switches with programmable colours, and a one-inch OLED display. It mounts in front of the wheel rim rather than between the wheel and steering column.
Compatibility
Although the module is only shown mounted with the Sparco rim, it's compatible with most Fanatec wheel rims that have a six-hole mounting pattern. Fanatic hasn't revealed a full compatibility list yet, however.
With a DataPort-C connector, it’s also compatible with the Podium Hub, ClubSport Universal Hub for Xbox, and ClubSport Universal Hub V2 / V2 for Xbox.
No pricing, preorder, or availability details for the Fanatec Podium Button Module Rally are available yet, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
