Farming Simulator 25 has arrived with a whole host of new crops for players to cultivate, including green beans. This popular vegetable is a staple at most tables in America and Europe and a fresh crop to grow in the new Farm Sim title.
Here's everything you need to know about growing green beans in Farming Simulator 25.
Field Prep
Before you even think about planting your green beans, you need to prepare the ground they will go in.
Depending on your settings, you may need to do several steps here. If plowing is required then you will need either a plow, a subsoiler, or a spader to cultivate the field.
Once your field is plowed you will need to remove stones. Small stones can be rolled back into the field, but medium or large stones will require a stone picker to remove them. This will increase the yield of your crop and protect your equipment from excessive wear as you work.
Next up is adding lime to your field. You can do this by using the Bredal K105 spreader. This isn't always required. Players can check if the field needs lime by going to the Soil Composition menu and selecting "needs lime". If the field is highlighted then you will need to do this step. If it isn't, then you don't!
Once that's done you are ready to start planting.
Green bean planting
Green beans are a seasonal crop, so if you are playing with seasons turned on you will need to plant them in April, May, or June. Harvest time is between August and November. You won't be able to plant them outside of that April-June window unless you turn seasons off.
Green beans are planted with a regular planter, not a seeder. You'll need to buy seeds, and then load them into your planter. You don't need a special planter for this, whatever you have will do.
Make sure you've got the correct seed selected, you don't want to plant the wrong thing! If you have a planter that can also fertilize while you go then all the better.
Once you've got your planter hitched and loaded you just need to strip out the field with your seeds.
Crop care
To get the biggest yield possible, you need to look after your crops.
If you added a layer of fertilizer when you seeded the green beans, then you have nothing to do for a whole in-game month.
Once the first layer has been absorbed into the field you will need to add a second. There's no specific type that has to be used, so whatever you've already got is fine.
The next challenge is the weeds that will also grow with your green beans. It's best to take care of them when they are small, but so long as you get to them eventually it's ok.
If they are small then you can use a weeder to remove them, but if they've grown to be large then you will have to use a sprayer and get some herbicide on there.
If you are playing with crop destruction on then getting the weeding done early will prevent you from causing any major crop destruction as you go.
Harvesting & useage
Once your field of green beans is ready to harvest then you will need to get the Oxbo BP2140e harvester. This is a dedicated green bean harvester that costs $498,500.
Once you've unfolded the harvester and lowered the header you simply need to drive over the field to harvest. Once the harvester is full you will need to drop the crop onto a truck bed or trailer.
Once harvested you will need to sell them or put them into production. There is no silo that takes green beans, so you should either sell them immediately for the best price you can get or have a production chain plan for them.
That is all the information you need to know to get started with green beans in Farming Simulator 25!
