Drag racing is a really quick and fun way to make money in Forza Horizon 5. However, it can also be one of the most frustrating types of races, as you need the right equipment for the job. Never fear though, we've got everything you need to know right here!
The right equipment
Before you even get to the open road, you need to ensure that you have the right car for the job. You could be the best drag racer around, but if you don't have the right set of wheels, you're mincemeat.
Our picks include the Bugatti Divo, Hoonigan Ford Hoonicorn Mustang, and surprisingly the 2011 BMW X5 M Forza Edition.
Once you've chosen your ride, you need to soup it up to give it and yourself the best possible chance of winning. Bigger is definitely better when it comes to the car's engine, give it the most powerful one possible. Don't worry about the weight, we're looking for pure power here.
Be sure to whack a twin turbo on it, as well as apply all of the race parts to the car for good measure.
The drivetrain is an interesting one. You can go for rear wheel drive, but if you've got a very powerful car, it will be tough to handle when you're getting off the line. You definitely need the race transmission though, as time saved shifting gears is massive.
Now is the time for the weight saving, as you'll shed a few pounds by adding racing brakes, suspension and more onto the car. While you won't be using the brakes, they do make up a good chunk of the car's savable mass. The type of wheels you want are race tyres for optimum grip.
Fine tuning pays off
As long as you have enough money, getting the right equipment is easy in Horizon 5. This is the tough part, as fine tuning your car is very difficult to get right and you'll need some significant practice and refinement to nail.
There is no one-size fits all solution here, as every car is unique. For example, you want to set your gearing so that you're revving out fourth gear at the end of a quarter mile drag race. So, have a play around with these settings and find what's best for your motor.
In general though, it's the case that you need to make the first gear limit slightly longer than default, with the same being the case for second and third gears too.
When it comes to the drag racing itself though, there's not a lot of skill here that's required. As long as you get a good getaway from the line and shift at the right time, you will win if your car is fast enough. Which, if you've taken our suggestions onboard, it more than likely will be.
