Forza Horizon 5's arrival on PlayStation 5 is already making waves.

The game dropped in 2021 for Xbox and PC, but it's finally coming to PS5 on April 29, 2025, with early access for Premium Edition buyers on April 25.

PlayStation players are getting their first shot at this title, but it's already taking over the PS5 charts. It has secured both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in Canada for its Premium and Standard Editions, with the Deluxe Edition also landing in the top 10.

Over in the UK, the Premium Edition hit No. 1, the Standard Edition landed at No. 3, and the Deluxe Edition made it to No. 8. Meanwhile, the Premium Edition is rocking third place for pre-orders in the U.S., and the Standard Edition not far off in fourth.

This achievement is even more impressive when you consider the competition. Big names like WWE 2K25 The Bloodline Edition and MLB The Show 25 Digital Deluxe Edition are up there, but Forza Horizon 5 isn't backing down. It's even outdoing upcoming titles like Assassin's Creed Shadows and Elden Ring: Nightreign in some regions, which shows how much PlayStation players are into it.

There are a couple of reasons Forza Horizon 5 has been such a hit on the PlayStation Store. First up, this marks the first mainline Forza game to launch on a non-Xbox platform. The series has long been regarded as one of the best in the racing genre, often seen as Microsoft's answer to Sony's Gran Turismo. Now that it's heading to PlayStation, those who never had the chance are keen to try it out.

Another big factor is the game's reputation. Forza Horizon 5 is an award-winning open-world racer with stunning visuals, a huge car collection, and a map based on Mexico's diverse terrains. With all the expansions and updates over time, it's still keeping things fresh for players who've been along for the ride.

Even with some complaints about the nearly $100 early access price for a game that's been around for years, it's still selling out quickly. The fact that there's no physical release is also a big part of why it's performing so well online. According to Microsoft, Forza Horizon 5 will be a digital-only release on PS5, meaning no physical disc option.

Forza Horizon 5's success on PlayStation has sparked conversations about what this could mean for the future of Xbox exclusives. Not long ago, the idea of a big Microsoft franchise appearing on a rival console would've been unimaginable, but times are evolving. Xbox is leaning more into software and subscriptions, so Forza Horizon 5's success on PS5 could set the stage for more Xbox games hitting PlayStation soon.

For now, Forza Horizon 5 is the perfect example of how good games can catch on anywhere.
