We've all played plenty of rounds of the Eliminator and teamed up online in the Forzathon hourly events in Forza Horizon 4. But what are the multiplayer modes in Forza Horizon 5? Let's investigate!
Horizon Arcade
Horizon Arcade replaces the hourly Forzathon event with a rolling cooperative series of minigames. Also, after each event, players will be invited to join a convoy together and travel to the next game.
Arcade games include the previously seen Pinata Pop and the newly revealed Bullseye game.
In Piñata Pop, players team up to smash as many piñatas as they can within the time limit. You need to avoid the "cactus piñatas" which cause your car to be ghosted for a brief period.
Bullseye sees the area littered with ramps and targets. Players launch over the ramps and score points depending on where they hit the floating target. Again, this is co-operative so everyone will need to play their part!
Horizon Tour
Horizon Tour is a series of races and drives across the map as a convoy. Players meet at a particular Horizon Tour location and can team up with friends or strangers to take on the races.
The Horizon Tour meeting point is next to the main festival and the developers expect this to be a spot where players congregate online to meet and join events.
Horizon Open
Horizon Open consists of four separate modes. These are Open Racing, Open Drifting, Playground Games and also The Eliminator.
While the gameplay of the Eliminator hasn't changed, the map has been designed with this event in mind. Previously, in Horizon 4, the Eliminator was a later addition to the game and so there were areas of the map that didn't really suit this mode of gameplay.
Open Racing and Open Drifting replace the previous Online Adventure modes. We've yet to see more detail of these, but expect them to function similarly to before.
Playground Games will include new options for some games where every player is individual rather than on a team. We're hoping to see more of how this works in the coming weeks!
