Forza Horizon 5 continues to thrive. Playground Games’ acclaimed open-world racer was the biggest launch in Xbox history, won several awards at 2021 The Game Awards, and recently surpassed 15 million players. It’s an impressive milestone, but Forza Horizon 5 is far from perfect. Since it launched last November, players have encountered a myriad of issues in Forza Horizon 5 from broken accolades to server connection problems.
In a blog post responding to community feedback, Playground Games has revealed an extensive update plan for FH5. These updates will resolve these issues and improve the overall game experience to make FH5 a better game in 2022.
Future updates will fix Forza Horizon 5 issues
Many players are experiencing issues with the Accolades system that rewards in-game achievements. Some Accolades won’t unlock, while Accolade progress is resetting for some players, which is frustrating. Some Accolade descriptions are also misleading. According to Playground Games, the next update will fix these issues.
An upcoming update will also add the ability to save and edit EventLab content post-creation.
Retroactive Festival Playlist points
Every week, Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlists add new challenges, events, and rewards. Unfortunately, returning players are encountering problems with Festival Playlists.
Bugs are making it impossible to complete challenges, making some rewards unobtainable. Playground Games is aware of these issues. In the update, the developer says it's "taking the necessary steps to ensure that future challenges and objectives can be completed by all players.”
In addition, a future update will retroactively add points for bugged Daily Challenges and Treasure Hunt events in Series 1 and Series 2. This will unlock the “Min, Meet Max” achievement for players that completed all other events and challenges within a series.
Playground Games is also investigating another issue that shows the incorrect total value of Series Points when viewing a previous Series Playlist. This is caused by Horizon Tour autocompleting in seasons. Fortunately, Playground Games is working on a solution for this.
Improved wheel support
While Forza Horizon 5 is fun to play on a controller, wheel support leaves a lot to be desired. Thankfully, Playground Games is working to improve wheel support in Forza Horizon 5.
The developer is investigating issues problems when playing Forza Horizon 5 with a wheel including game crashes when using a Fanatec wheel, missing wheel mapping on the Hori Force Feedback wheel, and a lack of rumble (this is separate from force-feedback).
As well as this, Playground Games will fix issues with Thrustmaster and Fanatec wheel handbrakes and force feedback not working with Logitech wheels after the game is suspended.
Finally, Playground Games wants to stop incorrect lap times and high scores being posted on Rivals and PR Stunts leaderboards.
New updates will “introduce new safeguards to tackle the situation,” discouraging cheaters. "We don’t expect this to be a quick fix,” but Playground Games is “committed to ensuring the leaderboards are fair and not compromised.”
When will the next Forza Horizon 5 update be released?
As for when these issues will be fixed, Playground Games hasn’t revealed a timeframe. Hopefully, the next Forza Horizon 5 update will release in the next few weeks.
Still, it’s encouraging to see the developer actively working to improve the game in response to community feedback. But considering this is one of the most popular racing games right now, Forza Horizon 5 should never have released in this buggy state.
