Forza Horizon 5’s popularity is showing no signs of slowing down. Before it was released last November, FH5 attracted nearly one million players thanks to the Premium Edition granting players early access. In the first week, FH5 was played by more than 10 million players, making it the biggest Xbox launch ever.
Back in January, FH5 raced passed the 15 million player mark. Six months later, the popular open-world racer has achieved another impressive player milestone.
Forza Horizon 5 races past 20 million players
After launching seven months ago, Forza Horizon 5 has passed 20 million players. Although Microsoft hasn’t announced the milestone, accessing the Hall of Fame leaderboard at the main Horizon Festival site confirms that over 20 million people have played FH5.
However, it’s worth noting that this doesn't mean FH5 has over 20 million active players. The player count refers to the number of accounts signed up to FH5 and many players have abandoned the game since launch.
FH5’s high player count can also be attributed to Game Pass. Playground Games’ open-world racer has been available on the game subscription service since day one.
Still, it’s an impressive achievement considering that Forza Horizon 5 has only been out for seven months. What started Forza Motorsport spin-off but is now one of the most popular racing games ever.
Forza Horizon 5 expansions
Now that FH5 has been out for seven months, fans are wondering when the first expansion will arrive. The Forza Horizon 5 Expansions Bundle is available to preorder and includes two expansions when they become available. Each expansion will introduce a “new world location, vehicles and gameplay” according to the Xbox store description.
Though not confirmed, the first Forza Horizon 5 expansion could be revealed at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase later this week on 12 June. Forza Motorsport is also likely to be a headline game at the show.
