Forza Horizon 5 is getting closer and closer! We've been combing through the launch car list. There are some gems from Horizon festivals past that might not be coming to Mexico.
Here are three we'll miss.
2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series
This performance GT car has appeared in all previous Forza Horizon games but is conspicuously absent from the Forza Horizon 5 car list. The Black Series version was a limited run of 350 units in 2009 and was the most powerful Mercedes road car yet produced.
The Black Series dispenses with the convertible roof of lesser models to save weight and improve rigidity. So even if it does turn up later in Forza Horizon 5 we won't be able to use the much touted new feature of opening the roof on this car.
Porsche restomods: Singer and Gunther Werks
I'm cheating slightly here by choosing two Porsche variations. Neither the 1990 Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer - DLS nor the 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 by Gunther Werks appear on the launch car list for Forza Horizon 5.
Both are lightweight, heavily upgraded versions of 1990s Porsches. Gunter Werks set out to develop the 993 generation of 911 into a modern GT3 RS style model. Singer with the DLS model worked heavily on weight reduction and tuning the car for performance.
With the current trend for restomods in the enthusiast car world, we'd like to see more of this sort of thing in Forza Horizon 5! Hopefully these will pop up at some point.
1966 Ford GT40 Mk II
This car was the star (alongside Christian Bale) of the recent Ford v Ferrari film. Telling the story of how Ford and Lola developed this machine, engineered by Carroll Shelby, it's well worth a watch. Unfortunately this car is still yet to be confirmed for Forza Horizon 5.
We'll be surprised if it is totally absent, as the Mk II has appeared in every previous Forza game.
