  • Key Update: Playground Games is reintroducing the classic Wristband system and a new Stamp mechanic to fix the series' progression pacing.
  • Status: Confirmed
  • Last Verified: May 13, 2026.
  • Quick Answer: Forza Horizon 6 is introducing three core progression paths: Wristbands, Stamps, and Horizon Play. You'll work toward the "Gold Wristband" and the ultimate Goliath race on Legend Island.

For the most part, Forza Horizon 6 continues to reiterate what has made the series perhaps the best modern open-world racer.

There isn't much further you can go from here, so Playground Games has instead focused on addressing the biggest criticism from the last game.

Yes, we're talking about proper progression that demands you put in some work for your dream car. Playground Games has briefed on the three progression paths that'll pace things nicely this time, including a much-needed wheelspin rebalance.

In their blog post, developers highlighted all the progression changes coming to Forza Horizon 6. Wristbands, Stamps, and Horizon Play offer three different ways to get rolling in the game.

Wristbands

Wristbands were in the early games of the series and have been absent for a while. You earn Wristbands by simply playing the game. Unlocking them gives you access to additional activities, events, cars, and much more.

It deliberately paces progression so you get a sense of working towards something and building your rep before getting into races with higher car class restrictions.

You get your first wristband by completing Horizon Qualifiers and the Horizon Invitational. Horizon Festival activities include Road, Dirt, Cross Country Races, Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets, PR Stunts, and Bonus Boards.

There are seven Wristbands, and Playground Games noted, "The Gold Wristband is the most coveted of them all, as that will allow you to enter Legend Island and compete in special new events, including our longest Goliath race yet."

Stamps

Stamps are a pretty big deal in Japan, which means they'll make their way to Forza Horizon 6. Like Wristbands, these are also a form of progression that unlocks new and different things in the game.

Everything you do in the game's vibrant open world, from customizing cars to photographing murals or smashing mascots, will fetch you Stamps.

Collecting Stamps for your Collection Journal unlocks Barn Find Rumors and new homes to buy around Japan.

Horizon Play

Horizon Play is the multiplayer side of the game. It'll have its own levelling system. You’ll earn XP by simply playing in Horizon Play game modes, obtaining a new Badge for every 10 ranks you achieve.

All you have to do to earn XP is play one of these modes:

  • The Eliminator: An open-world battle royale mode.
  • Hide & Seek: A game of chases where the Hider must stay hidden from their opponents.
  • Touge Showdown: two-player head-to-head championships with three races.
  • Spec Racing: a new mode where everyone is racing stock cars, and the only differentiator is pure skill.

There is some crossover progression between the multiplayer and single-player. Horizon Play grants you Horizon Festival Points towards your next Wristband progression.

Outside of these three major progressions, Playground Games also addressed Wheelspins: "To maintain the integrity of the progression at the heart of this game, we’ve rebalanced Wheelspins, and especially Super Wheelspins, to be rarer to earn throughout playing the game and more rewarding when you do spin them."

This means you'll see fewer spins, but they'll be more rewarding. We will have to wait until the game releases to know how often spins are handed out and how quickly the wardrobe gets full because of it.

That's everything detailed about Forza Horizon 6's three new progression paths.

The game will release on May 19, with Premium Edition players getting four days of early access.
