Forza Motorsport was showcased at this week’s Xbox & Bethesda Developer_Direct with new gameplay details and footage. While Turn 10 made bold promises about Forza Motorsport’s technical advancements, there was one crucial detail missing: a release date.
Previously slated for a Spring 2023 launch, Forza Motorsport’s release was revised to “coming 2023” at the show.
Coupled with the lack of gameplay shown at the event, there are fears that Turn 10 has silently delayed the Xbox simcade racer, with the release window now up in the air.
And now reliable industry insider Jeff Grubb has seemingly confirmed these fears.
Forza Motorsport reportedly delayed to second half of 2023
Speaking on the Games Mess Decides podcast, Grubb claims that Forza Motorsport is delayed and won’t arrive until the second half of 2023.
Based on information from his sources, the industry insider is confident that Forza Motorsport will “slip into later in the year” and it “probably won’t be the first half of the year.”
The insider believes Forza is slated for Q3 2023 or "maybe even a little bit later than that."
“I feel pretty good about this after asking around a couple of times after hearing it for the first time earlier today,” says Grubb.
“It does seem that Forza is going to slip later into the year and probably won’t be the first half of the year. The timeframe I'm hearing for Forza is Q3, maybe even a little bit later than that.”
“I don’t think that’s too surprising after hearing 2023, but I do wonder why they wouldn’t just come out and say that now because it’s just going to be more pain later.”
Turn 10 and Microsoft has yet to confirm a delay, but Grubb Tweeted he believes the “release is still fluctuating.”
With no release window, Turn 10 promises to share more details about Forza Motorsport’s career mode, physics, and career mode in the coming months.
