Over the last few weeks, Turn 10 has been drip-feeding car and track reveals for Forza Motorsport, including the new fictional Eaglerock Speedway. However, one noticeably absent track was yet to be confirmed: the Nurburgring.
The world-famous German circuit is a Forza staple, having appeared in every Forza Motorsport game since Forza Motorsport 3. Fans have been wondering if the Green Hell will return in the Xbox Series X|S reboot.
At Gamescom, Turn 10 revealed the Nurburgring GP will be one of 20 tracks Forza Motorsport will feature at launch, with the longer Nordschleife to be added after launch.
Nurburgring Nordschleife coming to Forza Motorsport in Spring 2024
Featuring 15 turns, the 9.3-mile Nurburgring GP circuit will be available in Forza Motorsport at launch on 10 October. After launch, the iconic 12.9-mile (20.83 km) Nordschleife will be added in spring 2024 as Turn 10 plans to add more circuits after launch.
Nicknamed the Green Hell, the Nurburgring Nordschleife is one of the world's most famous and challenging racing circuits. Its absence in Forza Motorsport is a disappointing blow for fans considering the game has been in development for six years.
This isn't the only missing feature either, with Turn 10 recently confirming Forza Motorsport won't support split-screen at launch.
History is repeating itself, as the Nurburgring Nordschleife was also missing in Forza Motorsport 5 at launch before being added later. Both circuits were rebuilt for the Xbox Series X|S and PC, which may explain why the Nordschleife won’t be in Forza Motorsport at launch.
Forza Motorsport track list
With the reveal of the Nurburgring GP, Turn 10 has confirmed 16 out of the 20 tracks available at launch. Each track will have multiple layouts.
The confirmed tracks so far include Maple Valley, Laguna Seca and Spa-Francorchamps, with more circuits to be added after launch. You can view the full Forza Motorsport track list here.
Forza Motorsport launches on 10 October for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Those who pre-order the Premium Edition will get five days of early access on PC and Xbox Series X|S starting on 5 October.
