The latest Gran Turismo 7 update has landed. Available to download now, update 1.13 includes GT7’s first free content update, adding three new cars and a new track layout.
Joining GT7's car roster in update 1.13 is the 2021 Super GT Series-winning Subaru BRZ GT300, the all-new 2021 Subaru BRZ S, and the 1991 Suzuki Cappuccino. It’s an eclectic mix of modern, vintage, and racing cars. In addition, the Spa-Francorchamps circuit features a new 24-hour layout.
But update 1.13 is more than just three cars and a track layout. It also makes some significant changes to GT7, from improved physics to renting cars n Sport Mode and much more. With this in mind, here are five changes you may have missed in update 1.13.
Physics changes
One of the most significant changes update 1.13 introduces is updated driving physics for rear-wheel-drive cars. Polyphony has adjusted the suspension and improved traction, making RWD cars easier and more fun to drive than before.
With the update, catching slides in rear-wheel-drive cars feels more intuitive, whether you’re using a DualSense controller or wheel.
Before the update, some of GT7’s RWD cars were practically undriveable with traction control disabled, which was frustrating. Thankfully, it’s now a lot easier to recover from tank slappers.
For controller users, the steering speed of the analogue stick is also increased. This makes RWD GT3 cars less twitchy and more responsive to inputs. Tweaks to the pressure of all four brakes also reduce braking distances.
These physics changes make GT7 more accessible without sacrificing authenticity. It’s a reminder that higher difficulties don’t always result in more realistic driving physics.
Rent cars in Sport Mode
Another surprise addition is a new Sport Mode option allowing you to rent cars in some Sport Mode ranked and Daily Races.
If you don’t already own a car required for a Sport Mode race, you can now rent an event-specified car instead to save some credits. Conveniently, rented cars are pre-configured to meet race requirements.
Before the update, if you didn’t own the required car, you weren't allowed to enter the event. While you could rent cars in GT Sport, this feature was absent in GT7 until update 1.13.
Speaking of GT Sport features absent in GT7, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed a future update will add the long-requested ability to sell cars in GT7.
New World Circuit events
If you’ve already completed the GT Café, update 1.13 adds new three new single-player World Circuit events at Spa-Francorchamps.
These include the European Sunday Cup 500 (20,000 credits), Japanese Clubman Cup 550 (30,000 credits), and World Touring Car 800 (80,000 credits).
After Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed more endurance races are coming to GT7, each new event is held at the new Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour layout introduced in update 1.13.
Trigger strength effects
GT7 arguably has the best DualSense controller support of any PS5 game. Immersive haptic feedback lets you feel the roar of the engine and gear shifts, while adaptive triggers simulate grip levels.
If the default setting is too strenuous on your accelerating and braking fingers, update 1.13 adds a new option for adjusting the trigger strength effect.
Trigger strength can be adjusted from the Quick Menu during a race or in the pause menu in Settings > Controller Settings. From here, you can set Trigger effect 1P (Accelerator) and Trigger effect 1P (Brakes) to Off, Weak or Strong depending on your preference.
Engine start-up sounds
In another subtle change that’s easy to miss, an engine start-up sound now plays when you change garage cars with update 1.13.
It’s a small but satisfying effect allowing you to appreciate GT7’s improved engine sounds when selecting cars from your collection.
