Gran Turismo 7 update 1.23 adds 3 new cars, Menu Books & more

Following yesterday’s reveal, Gran Turismo 7 update 1.23 is now live for PS5 and PS4 players. As detailed in the Gran Turismo 7 update 1.23 patch notes, September’s update adds three new cars along with new GT Café Menu Books, World Circuits events, and bug fixes.

Three new cars

Weighing in at 1.1 GB on PS5 and 1.8 GB on PS4, update 1.23 is headlined by three new cars that will satisfy speed freaks. These include the record-breaking Volkswagen ID.R ‘19, which makes its Gran Turismo debut.

The electric time attack car made history when driver Romain Dumas set a record time of seven minutes and 57 seconds at the 2018 Pikes Peak Hill Climb - the first ever run in under eight minutes. It also set the fastest EV lap time ever recorded at the Nurburgring with a blistering time of six minutes and five seconds.

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the ID.R also became the first car to conquer the hillclimb in under 40 seconds with a record of 39.9 seconds.

Joining the ID.R is the Porsche Vision GT Spyder. Compared to the original Porsche Vision GT, the Spyder variant is a sleek speedster two electric motors delivering a combined output of 820 kW (1,098 HP) and up to 1,090 Nm of torque.

An active aerodynamic system dynamically reacts to different driving scenarios to enhance performance, making it perfect for attacking corners at high speed.

Finally, we have the Nissan Silvia K's Type S (S14) ’94. Compared to the S13, the S14 is longer, taller, and has a wider body and track, giving it a bolder presence.

As standard, the top-of-the-range S14 model rides on 16-inch wheels and is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It will be available to buy at the Legend Car dealership from 29 September.

New Menu Books and World Circuits events

In addition, update 1.23 adds new events to extend the single-player campaign. A new The Silvia Sisters Menu Book has been added unlocked at Collector Level 27 along with two Extra Menus. There are also four new World Circuits Events: Silvia Sisters, Japanese FR Challenge 450, American Clubman Cup 700, and World Touring Car 800.

New California II and Tokyo II locations have also been added in Scapes.

As for bug fixes, the update fixes License Centre, Car Settings, and Garage issues, and also improves online stability. For wheel users, the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel is now supported and rotary encoder support has been added for Fanatec steering controllers.

It’s a hefty update, but we would have liked to see some new tracks or layouts – there are still plenty of iconic Gran Turismo circuits missing in GT7 like Midfield Raceway, Autumn Ring, and Clubman Stage Route 5.
