Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.44 Adds 3 New Cars This Week

Following Kazunori Yamauchi’s traditional silhouette teaser last week, Polyphony has unveiled what Gran Turismo 7 players can expect in March’s update.

Launching on 28 March, update 1.44 will add three new cars, new race events, a new Menu Book, and a Scapes location.

Three new cars coming to Gran Turismo 7 this week

A new video confirms the identities of the three cars Yamauchi teased last week. As fans correctly guessed, March’s update marks the return of the legendary Toyota GT-One.

A fan-favourite car since Gran Turismo 2, GT7’s GT-One is based on the #3 car that raced in the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans. Toyota raced the GT-One in the 1998 and 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans races, but it sadly never won.

The GT-One will likely be sold in the Legends Cars dealership for an eye-watering price, so you might want to start credit grinding if you want to own it this Le Mans legend.

Joining the GT-One is the 2018 Lamborghini Urus, Lamborghini’s first SUV since the LM002 launched in the 1990s. Powered by a 4-litre, twin-turbo V8, this SUV in GT7. It could pave the way for other performance SUVs like the Aston Martin DBX, Bentley Bentayga Speed, and Ferrari Purosangue to join GT7’s roster.

Rounding out update 1.44’s car lineup is the 2016 Audi R8 Coupe V10 plus. Audi’s second-generation R8 is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 that sends 602 hp to all four wheels. Coincidentally, the last-ever R8 rolled off the production line this week after Audi discontinued the mid-engine sports car.

New Menu Books and events

In addition to the new cars, update 1.44 will add a new GT Café Menu Book, with Extra Menu 37 tasking you to collect three Jaguars. There are also three new World Circuits events, a new Scape location set in Fukushima, Japan, and, unexpectedly, 26 stickers for the livery editor based on the upcoming Japanese anime Highspeed Etoile. These stickers will be available for a limited time.

Sadly, we won’t be getting any new circuits in update 1.44. The last new track was the Lakeshore snow circuit included in Spec II last November, but we haven’t had a new road circuit to race on for over a year since Grand Valley returned last February.

Release date

Gran Turismo 7 update 1.44 will be released on 28 March. We’ll have to wait for the patch notes to come out tomorrow to find out if it will bring any other enhancements or quality-of-life improvements.
