Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.48 Brings Back Two JDM Legends

Following Kazunori’s teaser earlier this week, Gran Turismo 7’s May update (update 1.48) has been unveiled in full. Out tomorrow, it’s a bumper update with five new cars instead of the usual three, plus new Menu Books, World Circuit Events, and Scapes locations.

5 new cars

Fans are accustomed to Gran Turismo 7 updates including three cars, but update 1.48 will buck this trend by including five new cars to race. In terms of cars, this is the largest update since Spec II last November.

Two JDM legends headline update 1.48: the ‘00 Honda NSX GT500 and ‘87 Nissan Skyline GTS-R. Last seen in Gran Turismo 6, the Honda NSX GT500 is adorned in its iconic Castrol Mugen livery and can be purchased at the Legend Cars dealership.

Limited to only 800 examples, the GTS-R utilizes an uprated version of the GTS model’s turbo inline-six engine, rated at 207 hp. Compared to the regular GTS, the GTS-R model features modified suspension and a larger, more prominent rear spoiler.

The ‘93 Honda Civic SiR II hatchback joins the two JDM cars alongside the ‘93 Volvo 240 SE Estate and Volvo V40 T5 R-Design ’13, with the Swedish manufacturer making its GT7 debut. The V40 T5 will be available in Brand Central, while the 240 SE Estate and Civic SiR II can be found in the Used Car Dealership.

Beyond the new cars, update 1.48 will add a new GT Café Menu Book for car collectors, with Extra Menu No. 39 focusing on Japanese GT cars. You’ll need to reach Collector Level 48 or above to access this Menu Book, however.

Elsewhere, the single-player campaign will expand with four new World Circuit events and a Scapes location set in Haulover Park, Miami.

Sadly, there won’t be any new tracks to race on. This will be disappointing for GT7 fans as there haven’t been any new tracks since the fictional Lake Louise snow circuit was added last November in the mammoth Spec II update.

Release date

As expected, Gran Turismo 7 update 1.48 will be live on Wednesday, May 29 11:00pm PST and May 30 7:00am BST / 3:00pm JST.
