Gran Turismo 7’s latest update rolled out yesterday. As well as adding six new cars, update 1.49 marks the series return of the Eiger Nordwand Swiss circuit for the first time since Gran Turismo 6.
Huge physics changes also headline the update, but a bug has resulted in “unintended vehicle behavior” – and the results are hilarious.
According to the patch notes, the update significantly improves the suspensions and steering, resulting in “more natural cornering physics and acceleration/deceleration stability levels” as well as “more accurate simulation of steering forces.”
Additionally, an enhanced tyre physics simulation has improved the turning stability on low-speed corners, while improved tyre response, heating, and wear has resulted in “more dynamic car movement” and a “further polished driving feel.”
However, the update hasn’t gone well as a bug is causing serious problems with the physics. Hilarious videos posted online show cars comically bouncing on the track and launching into the sky like a rocket. In other cases, cars can be seen disappearing through the track. According to GTPlanet, the bug primarily affects cars with engine swaps.
Polyphony investigating “unintended vehicle behavior”
Polyphony is aware of this bizarre physics bug causing “when a particular car setting is set within Car Settings” and is working on a patch to resolve the issue. There’s no time frame yet, but we’re expecting a hotfix to be deployed in the coming days.
