Gran Turismo 7’s next content update is coming next week. Teased by Kazunori Yamauchi last weekend, update 1.36 will add four new cars to GT7. As always, their identities were hidden as silhouettes.
Now, Polyphony has confirmed one of the new cars coming to GT7. And it’s one of the strangest GT7 vehicles yet: an ambulance.
Toyota Ambulance HiMedic coming to Gran Turismo 7
If you’ve ever wanted to race an ambulance in GT7, you soon can. The Toyota Ambulance Himedic ’21 is coming to GT7 as a special Gran Turismo World Series Showdown prize.
Taking place in Amsterdam, the 2023 World Series Showdown live event will run on 11 and 12 August. To celebrate, Polyphony is running two bonus campaigns in GT7 with prizes up for grabs.
To enter, select the Predict the Winners Campaign banner at the top right corner of the world map. Here, you’ll be invited to predict which teams will win the Manufacturers and Nations Cups.
Players who correctly guess the winners of both the Manufacturers Cup and Nations Cup will win 2,000,000 Credits on 14 August. Correctly guessing one of them will win you 1,000,000 credits.
Selecting the Viewers Campaign at the top right of the map and watching the World Series streams can also get bonus rewards. Players who stream the Manufacturers Cup will be rewarded a 6-Star Roulette Ticket.
Those who stream the Nations Cup, on the other hand, will get early access to the Toyota Ambulance HiMedic ’21. Entries for the Manufacturers Cup end on Sunday 13 August, while the Nations Cup ends on Sunday 20 August.
It's certainly an unusual choice, but Gran Turismo is known for having quirky and obscure cars you don’t see in other racing games.
Update 1.36 coming next week
After skipping July, Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36 will be available to download on 7 August. Polyphony has already confirmed the Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition '22 is one of the new cars coming in the update. Others appear to be the Maserati MC20 and 1958 Chevrolet Corvette C1.
Although it appeared in Kazunoari’s teaser, the Toyota Ambulance HiMedic may not be available immediately.
Polyphony says the ambulance is coming to GT7 in a “future update, but players can receive it early by participating in this campaign.” This implies it will be added to Brand Central after the Nations Cup, possibly in September’s update.
We should find out what else is coming in GT7’s next update soon.
