Another day, another new Gran Turismo 7 video from Polyphony and their CEO Kazunori Yamauchi.
This time it is focused on Scapes, the Gran Turismo photo mode. In the video Yamauchi discusses his own passion for photography, and how he has enjoyed seeing the creativity of Gran Turismo players in GT Sport's Scapes mode. But will this mode expand for GT7?
Same Scapes
On the surface it looks like the GT7 Scapes will be very similar to how Gran Turismo Sport is.
Grab your car, find a background you like, and snap away.

The problem is that is a pretty restrictive mode for players these days.
Racing game photo modes have come on a long way, as our SnapShot Challenge competition celebrates. But the GT Sport mode was highly limited, and it looks like those limitations are carrying through to GT7.
While the ability to use "open world" scenery in a closed world game is great, it's all very static and stationary.
The 2D background and fixed camera position don't hold up well in comparison to Forza Horizon 5 or even F1 2021 and DIRT 5.
Hopefully the on-track photo mode will be improved, but for now it doesn't look like Gran Turismo 7 will be the go-to for digital photography.
Gran Turismo 7 gameplay
So far these GT7 videos have been big on the lore and feel of Gran Turismo 7, but light on new gameplay and new information.
That's not a surprise as the game is still 5 months away from release, but the community is starting to get frustrated. When will we see new gameplay for GT7? There's a chance we'll get some before Christmas in an aim to spike pre-orders again, but don't hold your breath.
