We love Gran Turismo 7, and to see why, check out our review. GT7 has been a breath of fresh air for racing simulators. Some thins never change though, and the need to be quick to win races is one of them.
Fortunately, GT7 has plenty of options and settings that will make you faster. So, here's our guide to be steering better in GT7!
Tuning Shop
Sometimes, it's not you, it's the machinery you're using. This is especially the case for cars that have a lot of power, but don't have the suspension nor the tyres to warrant that size of engine.
In general, light and nimble cars are better and easier to steer around corners. Think more Mini Cooper and less Ford Mustang. That's not to say power doesn't have its benefits, as on circuits where there are long straights, you'll breeze past your rivals.
Instead of buying a new car, you can just modify the motor you already have. Head over to the Tuning Shop in the GT World menu and it'll be near the bottom of the screen. If you don't see it, you'll need to unlock it by completing the European Compact Cars Menu in the GT Cafe.
In the Tuning Shop itself, you should opt for better tyres, suspension and weight reduction. Avoid increasing the power output, as this will make braking zones longer and the steering worse by default. Also, better brakes will help your cornering.
Settings options
If you're still struggling to keep your car on the black stuff despite these new upgrades though, you could have the wrong settings enabled. To change your assist settings, you'll need to start up a race, doesn't matter which one.
Once the race has loaded, go to the Settings menu, then Assist Settings. If you're losing the car through corners, turn up/ on the Active Stability Management (ASM) and/ or the Countersteering Assistance.
If it's a case that you're braking too late and carrying too much speed through the corners though, you'll need a different approach. Instead, go and alter the Braking Indicator, Driving Line Assistance and ABS settings.
It's also possible that if you're on wheel, you have the wrong settings enabled there. To correct this, go over to the main menu, settings and then controller settings. Find the wheel you're using and alter the settings you have enabled.
