Gran Turismo Sport isn't all racing, there's a lot to do on the side in the real driving simulator. One of these side modes is take photos of your favourite cars. GT Sport lends a huge helping hand with this, as its Scape photo mode is still one of the best around.
But how do you get the most out of photo mode? And how do you download and share your favourite snaps online? We've got everything you need to know right here!
Photo mode basics
Gran Turismo Sport's photo mode can be found by scrolling over to the "Scapes" menu on the right of the home menu.
You will then be brought to this screen, where you can choose which Scape i.e. background you wish to take your photo with. There are a lot on offer here, but let's go with one of the most beautiful, the cherry blossoms.
Once you've selected your background, you'll then be taken to the photo screen. You'll next have to choose a car to go in the shot (you can't take a picture without one in there). To do this, select Place New Car in the bottom right of the screen.
You can move the car using the controls displayed at the bottom of the screen. Left stick to move, right stick to rotate and you can also enlarge or shrink the size of the car using the DualShock 4's touch pad.
Once the car is where you want it to be for the photo, go over to the Camera menu by pressing R1. There are loads of settings you can change here for your virtual camera, but we're not going to get into them now because there's just too many.
The important button is the shutter, which can be found in the bottom right of the photo. Press X to take your image.
Your photo will have been captured with that and you can choose whether you want to share it straight away or not. For the purpose of this tutorial, we're going to share it.
Downloading and uploading
When you go into the share menu, you'll have the option for whether to make your photo open to all players or just your friends. It's really up to you, but if you're proud of your car, why not show it off to the whole world?
You can put tags and change the title of your photo, but you must put a message within the box at the bottom to upload it to your online Library. When you hit OK, the photo will be live within your Library and either just your friends or any GT Sport players will be able to see it through your profile or the tags you placed on it.
We've uploaded the photo, but what about downloading it to our own personal collection? Well, that's not as simple, but it isn't difficult either. Viewing the photo for yourself after uploading it is very straightforward. Going back to the main menu, you go to "My Library" which is on the left side of the screen.
The first thing you'll when you enter your library are your scape photos. Select which one you want to view.
GT Sport will then bring up the image as the entire screen. Now you need to screenshot it, so press and hold the Share button on your controller pad.
The photo will then be saved in your capture gallery, which can be accessed via the PS4's home menu. Press the PS button and scroll along to the capture gallery. Then, select Gran Turismo Sport from the games there. When you see the capture of the image you want, press Options on the controller.
If you have a USB storage device (such as a memory stick or an external hard drive) connected to the PS4 console, you will have the option to copy it over. Using that USB device, you can then connect it to a laptop or PC and upload it to social media or have it on your mobile phone. The possibilities are truly endless.
