Lego games have become part of the furniture in recent years, but usually they are focused on Star Wars or other big cinematic IPs. But this year it's different. Lego and 2K have teamed up to make one of the most charming kart racers for a long time.
If you are wondering how good LEGO 2K Drive is, you can check out our review. The game is a mash-up of Mario Kart and Forza Horizon 5 with the kind of irreverent humour and joyfulness we've come to expect from Lego's movies.
Like any kart racer, there are some driving mechanics you need to know if you want to do well. One of them is drifting.
How to drift
There are plenty of mechanics in LEGO 2K Drive that are familiar to kart racers, and the biggest one is drifting. Just like plenty of other family-friendly racing games, drifting is one of the fastest ways to get round corners in LEGO 2K Drive.
Drifting starts at the corner entry, where you want to keep your accelerator glued down and then pull the left trigger (Xbox) or L2 (PlayStation) as you use the right stick to turn. This will kick the kart or boat into a drift.
There is no need to counter-steer like you would in a simulation racing game, instead you just need to pick your moment to start and exit of the drift. Starting early is good, as it drifting fills your boost meter, which means you can build boost to then use as you exit the corner and pick up speed faster!
If using LT/L2 doesn't quite feel right, you can change the control configuration in the settings and use Config D, which moves the drift button to X on Xbox and Square on PlayStation.
