Some of the world’s best racing drivers start their careers in go kart racing. In contrast to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, KartKraft on the PC offers one of the most realistic go-kart experiences in a racing game.
For PS5 and PS4 owners, Gran Turismo 7 has hundreds of cars from leading manufacturers. But you may not realise that you can go kat racing in GT7. Here’s how to race go karts in Gran Turismo 7.
Buy the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter
There is only one go kart in GT7: the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter. Before you can buy a go kart in GT7, you need to unlock the Brand Central location. This is where you can browse dealerships and buy new cars.
Brand Central is unlocked after completing Menu 4 at the GT Café. Once unlocked, it will appear as a new location at the top right of the World Map.
To buy the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter, use the d-pad or left analogue stick to navigate to Brand Central and press Cross. Then select Asia-Pacific and visit the Gran Turismo showroom.
The first car you’ll see is the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter. Press Cross to select the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter, select your desired colour, and press Purchase to buy it.
You’ll need to have 10,000 credits to purchase the go kart. If you don’t have enough credits, there are some early events you can enter to earn credits faster.
How to race go karts in Gran Turismo 7
To race go karts in Gran Turismo 7, you’ll need to set up a custom event. First, go to your Garage and select the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter as your current car. Then, visit the World Circuits location on the World Map and select a track. In the options at the bottom, select either Arcade Race or Time Trial and start an event.
Sadly, there are no dedicated kart racing tracks in GT7. This could change, as Polyphony is releasing regular free updates for GT7. Let’s hope the fan-favourite Kart Space indoor track from GT6 returns.
Equipped with a sequential six-speed manual transmission, the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter has a top speed of up to 124 mph depending on the gear ratio. It also appeared in GT6 and GT Sport.
With its nippy handling, light weight, and low centre of gravity, the Racing Kart 125 Shifter is a lot of fun to drive, making go-karting one of the most enjoyable experiences you can have in GT7.
