The year is almost over, with all eyes now turning towards what 2024 has to offer. iRacing is gearing up for its first update of next year, and the 2024 Season 1 update is bringing some huge changes to the game.

From a new car to new and improved tracks and even a new damage model, here’s what to look forward to in iRacing’s 2024 Season 1 update.

Car evolutions

2024 Season 1 for iRacing contains one new car, the Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3. This may not seem like much, but it’s the improvements to the rest of the collection that take the headlines. iRacing’s new damage model makes its debut in 2024 Season 1, with the Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3 and 17 other vehicles having this new damage model enabled.

Eventually, the new damage model will roll out across the rest of the available cars in the game, but for now, it’s still possible to take almost 20 cars out for a spin to see how the new damage model will work.

iRacing’s vehicle dynamics team have also tested every car in the game to come up with new optimised vehicle setups for the 2024 Season 1 update. Combined with the new damage model, tyre grip physics, and pioneering 3D curb technology coming to tracks in the future, this will help you get the best performance out of each and every car.

Speaking of track updates, there’s been some activity there too.

Track changes

Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, or just Mugello for short, joins iRacing as the new road track in 2024 Season 1. On the oval racing side, Slinger Speedway brings a new oval and figure eight circuit to create more chaotic racing.

Owned by Ferrari, and used as a testing ground for their new cars, Mugello is a mix of tight, testing turns and sweeping corners perfect for putting a car through its paces. The track is also used as a venue for MotoGP amongst other racing classes.

As well as seeing new tracks join, 2024 Season 1 also sees Okayama International Circuit go through a complete rebuild. Using data collected across 2023, the circuit will see updated visuals and track layout and best of all, the updated track will be free to all iRacing racers.

Sadly, iRacing’s new Tempest weather system has been delayed, with the new system now being expected in March 2024 at the earliest. Besides that minor bump in the road, however, 2024 Season 1 is looking to be a very strong update for iRacing.
