Need for Speed Unbound has been revealed, but is it going to be an open world game? The answer to that question isn't as clear as you might think, despite less than two months until release day.
Is Need for Speed Unbound open world?
There's a lot that we learned from the Need for Speed Unbound trailer from last week. We know which consoles Unbound will be available on, as well as its release date.
We also know that there's a huge car list available, as well as rapper A$AP Rocky playing a role in Unbound's story.
Something that isn't clear though is where Unbound is going to be set or if it's an open-world game. NFS titles are normally open-world, giving you the freedom to explore the city that you're trying to take over.
By our count, it's been over ten years since the last NFS that didn't have an open-world map to explore.
Leaked map
It would be very out of character for Criterion to not make a map to race around in NFS Unbound. That gets even more convincing when you realise that we may have already seen the game's map.
Thanks to an alleged leaked map on Reddit, the map for Unbound might already have been revealed. If the above image is legit, then we could have the biggest NFS map ever available for us in December.
We don't know what this city will be called, but it could well be true. Given that it looks as though there are street races and cop chases in Unbound, we think it's definitely possible this map is real.
Even if it's not, it's going to be more than likely that Unbound is an open-world racing game. After all, a game titled "Unbound" shouldn't place restrictions on its players.
