Gran Turismo 7 is one of the best PlayStation 5 exclusives out there, but could it be coming to PC? This is something we've been asking for a long time now and the series' creator has given us a hint that it could be possible.
Gran Turismo 7 PC
It might seem odd to think of Gran Turismo on a system that isn't a PlayStation, but it can work. From a purely hardware point of view, gaming consoles like the PlayStation 5 are effectively powerful gaming PCs.
In fact, some gaming PCs are even more powerful than the PS5. Although, this isn't the norm, if you spend enough, your setup can achieve higher specs.
Far from the first
Some PlayStation exclusives have already made the jump to PC as well. These include some of the most popular PS5 and PS4 titles out there, so Sony are serious about this.
Spider-Man, Uncharted 4 and God of War are all available on PC now and there will be more which follow.
Speaking to GTPlanet, GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi was asked whether a PC GT7 port is possible, stating “Yes, I do think so,”.
He further explained that it won't be a straightforward transition, though:
“Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title. There are not many platforms which could run the game in 4K/60p natively, so one way we make that possible is to narrow down the platform. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course, we are looking into it and considering it.”
When can we expect GT7 on PC?
This won't be something that will come anytime soon. Polyphony are always busy working on updates for Gran Turismo 7, but adding a new system to the game's availability will take time.
Both Spider-Man and God of War took four years to come to PC, and Uncharted 4 over six. However, it won't take that long for GT7.
Presuming Polyphony are working on the PC port for GT7 now, it is possible that we could see this released sometime next year. This would most likely be towards the back end of 2023.
Polyphony won't be working on Gran Turismo 8 just yet, as they'll likely wait to release this on the PlayStation 6. With how cutting edge the PS5 is and will remain, this won't be for many years to come.
