Limited-edition Toyota Yaris comes with a free copy of GT7 and a PS5

To celebrate the launch of Gran Turismo 7 next month, Toyota has revealed a new limited-edition Yaris hatchback that comes with a free copy of GT7 and a PlayStation 5.

As collectors editions go, this is an unusual and expensive one.

Toyota Yaris GR Sport GT7 Edition includes a copy of GT7 and a PS5

Limited to 100 units, the Toyota Yaris GR Sport GT7 Edition will be sold on 4 March to coincide with GT7's launch. Not only is it extremely limited, but the car is also only available in Spain.

Based on the Toyota Yaris GR Sport Electric Hybrid, the GT7 Edition features exclusive GT badging on the front wings. Inside, there's a nameplate with a serial number highlighting the car's exclusivity. You also get a personalised smart key and fob.

Only 100 Toyota Yaris GR Sport GT7 Edition cars will be made

Also included with the car is a physical copy of GT7 for PS5, a PlayStation 5 console, and an extra DualSense controller. You also get a three-month PlayStation Plus subscription so you can race online. Ironically, the Toyota Yaris GR Sport GT7 Edition won’t be in the GT7 game.

No pricing details were announced. For reference, the regular Yaris GR Sport retails for €23,000 (£19,191). However, the GT7 Edition will almost certainly be more expensive because of its limited availability.

This reminds us of when Codemasters launched the GRID 2 BAC Mono Edition. It came with a one-off single-seater BAC Mono sports car and a copy of GRID 2 for £125,000.

You can only buy the Toyota Yaris GR Sport GT7 Edition in Spain

In fact, this is not the first time a special-edition car has promoted GT. In 2004, the Nissan 350Z Gran Turismo 4 went on sale in Europe with a copy of GT4 and a PS2 console, as noted by GTPlanet.

Toyota extends PlayStation partnership

Toyota and PlayStation are also extending their partnership. For the last four years, the Japanese car manufacturer has sponsored Gran Turismo’s FIA Certified Online Championship. The extended partnership will spawn a new Spanish Gran Turismo Championship in GT7 giving players a chance to win one of the Yaris GR Sport GT7 Editions planned for production.

In addition, PlayStation Spain is partnering with the Toyota Gazoo Racing Iberian Cup, a one-make GR Yaris race held on circuits in Spain and Portugal.
