Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC available to pre-load now

Despite releasing in 2017, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still one of the best-selling racing games, still appearing in the weekly game charts. While many were hoping to see Mario Kart 9 announced this year, Nintendo is extending the life of MK8 Deluxe with the Booster Course Pass expansion.

Over the next 18 months, the DLC will add 48 classic tracks from past Mario Kart games until the end of 2023. There will be six waves, with each containing eight tracks.

Wave 1 is out on 18th March, but Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can download the Booster Course Pass now ahead of launch.

Pre-load the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass

MK8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass is available to buy for £22.49. Alternatively, Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can access the DLC at no extra cost. An annual membership costs £34.99.

That leaves 40 unannounced tracks, but there are plenty of classic Mario Kart courses we would love to revisit.

You don’t need to buy the Booster Course Pass to try the new tracks, however. Nintendo has confirmed that the DLC tracks can be played online with friends - even if you don’t own them.

The tracks appear to be sourced from the mobile spin-off Mario Kart Tour

As the tracks appear to be ported from the mobile spin-off Mario Kart Tour, some fans are concerned they won’t have the same visual quality as MK8 Deluxe. We’ll find out soon when the first eight tracks become available on 18th March.
