Mario Kart 8 now the best-selling instalment in franchise

It's no secret that the Nintendo Switch has been a juggernaut since it first arrived, and 2020 seems to have only super-charged the handheld console.

Having published its latest quarterly financial results, Nintendo has given us an insight into their amazing success.

Of them is the absolute powerhouse of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Mario Kart 8 outsells everything

For many racing fans, Mario Kart was the first game they cut their teeth on.

Even now, it's still a game even the most serious racers come back to and enjoy. With its amazing locations and thrilling gameplay it's easy to see why gamers keep coming back to the title.

FUN & FRUSTRATION: Nothing is as infuriating as Mario Kart

As a result Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which landed in April 2017, is now the biggest selling edition of the whole franchise.

Combining the 33 million original version's of Mario Kart 8 that were sold on the Wii U and the 8.6 million MK8 Deluxe sales, it has now surpassed Mario Kart Wii as the best selling Mario racer ever.

The future of Mario Kart

As much as we love Mario Kart 8, we can't wait for another instalment of the game.

Be it Mario Kart 9 or Mario Kart Pro, or whatever Nintendo can dream up, we are all-in for a new MK title as soon as possible.
