MESX 4 is Milestone's latest entry in the Monster Energy Supercross Series, and it's proved a smash hit so far.
One of the best features of the game is how accessible it is, and yet tricky to master.
So, let's take a look at some in-game moves you should be trying to try and improve those lap times as much as possible.
Manual racing
As with all racing games, one of the biggest learning curves is changing to manual gears.
This will allow you to carry more speed through as much of the lap as possible, as well as over the many jumps you'll encounter.
Once you have mastered the use of manual gears, you should immediately notice a slight improvement in your times. However, it is also important to note that this is a steep learning curve, and may take a while!
Seat bouncing
This is a common technique in motocross riding and games to help you carry more air.
When approaching a jump, hold down with both sticks and then move them up as you approach the lip.
This will help you carry enough air to travel to the landing. This should be used in moderation, however, as many of the smaller jumps don't require any seat bouncing at all.
Approach with caution
As a game, MESX 4 really rewards treating the corners as a driver would in real life. That means, really slowing down.
In previous games, players have been able to get away with treating it as a game, with cornering physics being very lenient.
MESX4 changes that, however, and really needs you to slow down in order to swing the bike around that corner.
The Wheelie 'glitch'
This is yet another mechanic which should help you carry greater speed through the jumps.
This involves pulling a slight wheelie before you lift-off, meaning that your front-wheel lands first just over the brim of the landing.
Mastering this technique should really help you carry more speed the technical sections of these tracks.
Consistency is key
Of course, one of the best things you can do to get faster is to play more.
There is no better substitute than just pure hours put into the game, and this will help you in the long term.
So, make sure to keep these tips in mind, and get out there and get playing!
