MotoGP 22 has more content than any previous Milestone MotoGP game. This includes the new Nine mode, where you can relive the 2009 season. Nine has all of the riders, bikes, races and circuits from the campaign.
There's a 19-rider field to choose from for the 2009 season. You can also play as part of this field in both time trial and quick races.
#3 - Dani Pedrosa
Dani Pedrosa will go down in history as one of the best motorcycle riders to never win a world championship. The Spaniard would come close on a number of occasions, including 2009, where he placed third overall.
#4 - Andrea Dovizioso
Andrea Dovizioso is the only rider in the 2009 field that is still racing in MotoGP in 2022. In 2009, the Italian was racing for Honda and was a consistent, solid points scorer.
Dovizioso won a single race in 2009, the British Grand Prix at Donington.
#5 - Colin Edwards
Colin Edwards has one of his best MotoGP seasons in 2009. The American was fifth overall in the riders' standings thanks in part to a career-best second place at Donington.
#7 - Chris Vermeulen
The term "flash in the pan" definitely applies to Chris Vermeulen. The Aussie scored multiple podiums and a win during a five-year career. Despite scoring points in every race in 2009, this would be his final full season in MotoGP.
#14 - Randy de Puniet
Randy de Puniet was not prolific in MotoGP, but 2009 was one of his better seasons. The Frenchman placed 11th overall and got a podium around Donington. He'd race full-time in MotoGP until 2013.
#15 - Alex de Angelis
Alex de Angelis would never establish himself in MotoGP, with 2009 being a rare full season for the Italian. He'd place a respectable eighth overall, his best ever result in the top tier.
#24 - Toni Elias
Toni Elias is another rider that didn't quite live up to the potential that many thought he has. The Spaniard would classify seventh in 2009 though, his best placing over a full season.
#27 - Casey Stoner
Casey Stoner had a short but mesmeric MotoGP career. In only seven seasons in the top tier, Stoner won two championships and only placed outside the top four in his debut campaign.
Stoner was fast during in 2009, but his Ducati bike lacked the consistency required for a championship challenge.
#33 - Marco Melandri
Marco Melandri came oh so close to a MotoGP championship in 2005. By 2009, though, the Italian's powers were waning. An incredible second place at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit though, showed he still had some special skills.
#36 - Mika Kallio
Mika Kallio was another rider who never managed to establish himself as a top-tier motorbike rider. The Finn would finish only 15th overall in his rookie season in 2009.
#41 - Gabor Talmasci
2009 was Gabor Talmasci's only MotoGP season and it wasn't much to write home about. The Hungarian could only manage a season-high of 12th and ranked 17th overall in the rider's standings.
#46 - Valentino Rossi
Valentino Rossi needs absolutely no introduction. Even if you don't know MotoGP, you know Rossi. The Italian legend is an seven-time world champion, second overall on the all-time standings.
Rossi retired at the end of last season after a 21-year career and will go down as one of Italy's greatest ever sportsman.
#52 - James Toseland
2009 would sadly be the second and final season in MotoGP for James Toseland. The Brit would achieve a sixth place at his home race and the Dutch TT in '09.
#59 - Sete Gibernau
Sete Gibernau is another rider who came close to being a world champion, twice! The Spaniard had his farewell season in 2009, only competing in six races.
#65 - Loris Capirossi
Loris Capirossi was past his best in 2009, but still managed a respectable mid-table finish. He ranked ninth, but never finished higher than fifth during this season.
#69 - Nicky Hayden
Nicky Hayden is a talent we sorely miss to this day. The Kentucky Kid was world champion in 2006, but never challenged for the championship after that year. Hayden was a joy to be around and his death at only 35 still saddens us five years on.
#72 - Yuki Takahashi
Yuki Takahashi only had half a season in MotoGP, but that half was in 2009, so we get to play as him here. The Japanese rider's best result was a 12th place in Spain.
#88 - Niccolo Canepa
Niccolo Canepa also only graced MotoGP for a single season. The Italian achieved an impressive eighth place at Donington in the UK.
#99 - Jorge Lorenzo
Jorge Lorenzo was another protagonist in the 2009 season title fight. Lorenzo wouldn't win the title in '09, but he would go on to be a three-time world champion in the coming years.
Lorenzo's rise would be immensely impressive, as he would go from 250cc champion to MotoGP champion in just three years.
