With the 2023 MotoGP season underway, we were starting to wonder what was going on with this year’s MotoGP 23 game. Usually, Milestone’s MotoGP games are revealed in February before releasing in March, but the Italian studio has remained silent.
Table of Contents
Mercifully, Milestone has finally broken the silence and revealed MotoGP 23. MotoGP 23 brings several new features from a redesigned career mode to dynamic weather for the first time in the series.
New career mode
As you would expect for an officially licensed MotoGP game, MotoGP 23 features the official riders and tracks of the 2023 MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, and MotoE seasons.
This year, the career mode has received a much-needed revamp. This is very welcome as Milestone’s career modes have lacked innovation in recent titles.
The introduction of turning points affects your career path based on your performance and decisions. After reaching the final part of a Moto3 season, you can move faster through classes depending on your results in the season.
However, each team will only have two spots, so finding a contact won’t be easy.
MotoGP 23’s new career also introduces a new fictional social network where you can interact with riders, teams, riders, and manufacturers. AI opponents will also behave differently during races based on your social media activity.
Dynamic weather
For the first time in the series, MotoGP 23 will feature a new dynamic weather system. Not only does this make races more unpredictable and challenging, but it also brings a new strategic element.
During torrential rainstorms, races will be declared as a Flag-to-Flag race, allowing you to return to the pit lane and change bikes.
Cross-play
After debuting in Monster Energy Supercross 6, crossplay multiplayer is also coming to MotoGP 23 for the first time in the series. This means players can race together online on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Curiously, crossplay won’t be available on PC or Nintendo Switch, however. Two-player split-screen also returns, but Flag-to-Flag races won’t be enabled in split-screen.
Release date
As for the release date, MotoGP 23 launches on 8 June 2023, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. That's slightly later than usual as the last three MotoGP games were released in April.
With TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 3 also arriving in May, it’s going to be a busy period for bike racing aficionados.
